It is rare that a band so young can create such a dynamic record. Expansive soundscapes coupled with sharp lyrics make the listener believe that this is the band's fifth album, not first. Not only is A Love Like Pi a refreshing sound in this increasingly dull music industry, they are an example of how to do things right. Nothing is compromised; everything is polished and delivered beautifully. This band is without question one to keep an eye on, it's only a matter of time before they explode.

I have a weakness for concept albums. By pulling a theme from all of their sonic components, they unify a collection of songs musically and lyrically and provide a unique experience for the listener. From Sgt. Pepper's to Dark Side Of The Moon to more contemporary efforts like Mae's The Everglow (review coming soon) and The Decemberists' The Crane Wife, many of them tend to excel. While some do indeed fall short (I.E. The Early November's The Mother, The Mechanic, And The Path), bands who create them tend to be experienced. A Love Like Pi, however, attempted one with their debut album - and succeeded magnificently.
